Beartooth Earns 2024 Performance Leadership Award from The Chartis Center for Rural Health

As part of National Rural Health Day, Beartooth Billings Clinic announced it has earned a 2024 Performance Leadership Award for Excellence in Quality. Compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, the Performance Leadership Awards recognize top quartile performance (i.e., 75th percentile or above) among rural hospitals in Quality, Outcomes and / or Patient Perspective.

“We are honored to receive the 2024 Performance Leadership Award in Quality for the third year in a row. This award is a testament to our values and demonstrates the compassion and passion for excellence our team provides to deliver the best quality emergency care to our patients and community,” said Stephanie Baldwin, Chief  Compliance Officer. “As a critical access hospital, we pull no stops when a patient requires a higher level of care. The transfer process must be timely and succinct, something our staff never stops training for and reaching a higher bar on.”

Andrew Gundlach, Acute Care / ED Manager also brings it back to the teamwork, “Beartooth providers and (all levels of the) nursing staff work day in and day out to consistently provide quality care to our patients. This recognition reflects the selfless commitment of our team and their dedication to the health of this community.” In addition to the acute care staff, Melissa McJunkin, Employee Health & Infection Prevention Coordinator, also received great marks on final flu vaccination rates for employees.

The Performance Leadership Awards are based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®, a comprehensive and objective framework for assessing how rural hospitals are performing. INDEX benchmarks are relied upon by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations, and state offices of rural health to measure performance across multiple areas impacting hospital operations and finance.

“The Performance Leadership Awards capture the commitment, diligence, and innovation with which America’s rural hospitals approach the delivery of care within their communities,” said Troy Brown, Network Consultant, The Chartis Center for Rural Health. “It’s a tremendous honor to be able to recognize the efforts of this year’s award winners and celebrate their achievement as part of National Rural Health Day.” To that end, Beartooth CEO Abby Lotz stated “We are proud to be the trusted healthcare partner for our community, and to be awarded the Performance Leadership Award while simultaneously celebrating Rural Health Day. This perfectly showcases our team’s delivery of high-quality care for those we serve.”
